Yoga on the Beach returns

Activities in Cape May, NJ

Published on April 27, 2016

I’m perfectly content to enjoy a stroll along Cape May’s beautiful shores in the early morning to find my inner peace but many guests over the years have been asking about other early morning activities on the beach and thanks to our friends at Balance, you can enjoy yoga on the beach from July to September!

Yoga on the beach takes place at The Cove, near Cove Restaurant at the end of Beach Ave. from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. There will be special classes over Memorial Day weekend, as long as it’s 50 degrees, on both Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. and then regular classes will begin over Independence Day. Classes will then be offered every day on the beach through Labor Day. The class is $15 though you can buy a pass and use it toward yoga on the beach and it’s recommended to bring water and a beach towel.

All skill levels are welcome to join and with the class being outside there are no class size limitations.

Balance also offers a variety of yoga and Pilates classes at its studio, 600 Park Blvd., as well as massage services! Follow Balance’s Facebook page for up-to-date information on its classes and events.

Another option for beach yoga is FUHN (Freeing, Uniting, Holistic, Nourishing) Beach Yoga with Kelsy Wise. Kelsy also offers yoga classes in the form of: Standup Paddle Board yoga and yoga wine cruises. You’ll meet Kelsy at 31 Perry St., above the MagicBrain Café. Classes are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Check the schedule for the most up-to-date information. Classes are $15 or a 10 class pass is $100.

Finally, there are beach yoga sessions with Karen Manette Bosna at a variety of locations in Cape May. Karen’s been teaching yoga in the area for more than 20 years and practices Ashtanga yoga, a practice focusing on flow and specific breathing patterns. Drop-in fees range from $5-$10 and it’s recommended to bring a blanket or towel.

Come find your inner peace in Cape May whether it’s participating in yoga on the beach or enjoying delicious tea and treats at our Afternoon Tea!
