Top 10 Christmastime activities in Cape May

Published on December 09, 2016

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Celebrating the holidays in Cape May is a wonderful way to spend them and I’ve outlined some of my favorite Christmastime activities to enjoy the happiest season of all and perhaps learn about some of the glories of Christmases long, long ago.

Top 10 Christmastime activities in Cape May:

  1. Holiday tours: Cape May will make your spirit bright with the variety of holiday tours offered during the season. From candlelight house tours to specialty trolley rides, you’ll be feeling festive in no time.
  2. Have an old-fashioned Christmas: At the Carroll Gallery, stroll through the “An Old-fashioned Christmas” exhibit and see model trains, a Dickens Village, and feel like a kid again at this Christmas wonderland.
  3. Dinner and a show: Enjoy a fantastic dinner at the Blue Pig Tavern and catch a classic with the restaurant’s This Wonderful Life! Shows are Thursday – Saturday at 7:30 p.m. or on Sunday at 3 p.m. for lunch and a matinee. Call 609-884-6574 for reservations.
  4. Sip a seasonal: Visit the tasting room at Cape May Brewery and try a seasonal brew, like its apple pie beer or I know what you did last shandy spiced beer.
  5. Take a romantic ride through town: So we don’t have horse-drawn sleighs but the Cape May Carriage Company offers romantic carriage rides through December so you can enjoy the lit-up streets with your special someone.
  6. Shopping: Treat yourself to a little gift from Cape May or find the perfect present for someone on your list! The Washington Street Mall has its fun Hospitality Nights in early December and many shops offer extended hours as we approach the holiday.
  7. Stroll the beach: Enjoy a nice walk along the beach in December! Take a walk along the shore with your loved one and then grab a cup of hot chocolate or coffee after your stroll.
  8. Visit the theater: Visit the Cape May Stage for its production of One Christmas Carol. Watch one actor play 35 distinct characters and leave the theater with a renewed Christmas spirit. The production runs through New Year’s Eve.
  9. Relax at the spa: Indulge with a little holiday cheer at the Cape May Day Spa. No, really, it’s a holiday specialavailable until January 5 that includes a 50-minute Swedish massage and a pedicure.
  10. Explore The Queen Victoria: With our three, unique Christmas trees and cozy ambiance, exploring The Queen Victoria during the holidays is a treat in itself. If you prefer to relax and unwind in our festive bed and breakfast, we won’t hold it against you!

No matter where you spend your time this year, Anna Marie and I wish you a wonderful holiday season filled with good cheer!

If you’re looking for the perfect present to introduce someone to Cape May, may I recommend a gift certificate to The Queen Victoria? You’re not only giving the gift of travel but also the royal treatment when they stay with us!
