Salt Marsh
Cape May Tours & Excursions
Enjoy a variety of Cape May boat tours while staying at The Queen Victoria®! The salt marshes of Cape May might be overlooked among the town’s plethora of other historical and artistic features, but they play a surprisingly important role in the area’s ecosystem—as a habitat for several important bird species—and possess their own quiet beauty that must be seen up close to fully appreciate.
A trip with the local Salt Marsh Safari can do just that: on-board the Skimmer, their boat, you can tour the marsh’s coastal areas for a venture that’s both exciting and educational! Each trip includes a full briefing on the area’s natural history, fish, tidal flows and wildlife, while also looking for Ospreys—as one of the largest wilderness areas in New Jersey, the marsh also has some of the state’s densest Osprey populations. The boat’s design and operation in calm back bay waters ensures a gentle ride, smooth viewing experience, and the ability to cruise through marsh areas that are only 2 feet deep! Trips last about 2 hours each, and there are no mosquitoes.
Be sure to check the company’s website in advance—if you happen to be visiting at the right time, you could go on some special touring events, including trips that focus on crabs and other below-water wildlife!
