Cape May is a wonderful place to visit in the spring and summer months. Aside from the fantastic history, beautiful beaches and all of the wonderful things to do here in Cape May, there are a ton of fun events that you can enjoy while visiting. From music festivals to Cape May dining, events around here are the icing on the cake; a bonus for your vacation. Be sure to take a look at some of Cape May’s events when planning your getaway. May

May in Cape May really is the perfect way to kick off the upcoming summer celebrations. And the first weekend in May is packed with great events. Spend the day at the Cape May County Coast Guard Community Festival. This free to attend event takes place Saturday May 6, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Featuring walking tours of Coast Guard ships, trolley tours of the training center and even boat tours of Cape May Harbor, this event is an excellent way to spend the day. Don’t miss it. May 6th is also the 34th Annual World Series of Birding. As the country’s largest birding competition, this is event is not called the “world series” for nothing. Hosted by New Jersey Audubon, the competition begins at 12:01 am on May 6th and will have bird enthusiasts searching all of New Jersey for signs of as many different bird species as possible. The finish line is located at Cape May Point State Park. Come together at the finish line and find out which incredible bird species were spotted during the competition.

Finish the month off with the 28th annual Cape May Music Festival. The music festival begins on May 28 and runs through June 15. This event is a perfect way to take in a variety of live music, the festival features classical, chamber and jazz by different musicians at each performance. You can get the line up here.

Foodies visiting the week of June 4th will love Cape May Restaurant Week. Enjoy two and three course meals at as many as 16 participating restaurants June 4-11 at a fixed-price. The event includes both lunch and dinner. Restaurant Week is a great way to experience many Cape May restaurants. You won’t leave hungry this week! Get a list of participating restaurants here.

Big-sport fisherman, don’t miss the 37th Annual South Jersey Shark Tournament. A memorable fishing event for anglers of all ages, the South Jersey Shark Tournament will be held June 7 – June 10. Dockside festivities with dining and live music make for a good time for all who attend.

Beer lovers will not want to miss the Cape May Hops Festival on Saturday, June 24. A wonderful way to kick off the official summer season, the festival is free to attend and is family-friendly. In addition to local brews, you’ll enjoy live blues music and delicious BBQ. Don’t miss crafts, collectibles and kids activities. The Cape May Hops Festival is a fantastic outdoor fest perfect for welcoming a season of BBQ and brews.
