Join us this month for a beautiful start to the summer season in Cape May. Of course, Memorial Day Weekend is one of the most popular weekends to visit our seaside village. Below you’ll find a short list of Cape May Memorial Day events plus recent The Queen Victoria news like our room of the month and restaurant of the month. But first, we’d like to talk about one of our favorite Cape May activities, bicycling.

Cape May Bicycling

At The Queen Victoria, we house a large collection of bikes for our guests to enjoy during their stay. Borrow them for rides around town, to the beach, or to get some exercise. Suggestions about where to ride can be found here. Cape May is a very bike-friendly place. There’s no better way to take in all the town’s history and architecture than leisurely cruising through her beautiful streets.

Celebrate Memorial Day in Cape May with these fun events

Cape May Music Festival | May 26 to June 23

The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) is continuing its tradition of bringing beautiful music to Cape May.  Once again, MAC will present a series of Classical, Chamber, Jazz, and other classic (and classy!) musical concerts to Cape May. Unlike most music festivals, which pack all performances into a frenzied weekend, the Cape May Music Festival takes a more leisurely approach, presenting a couple of concerts a week for several weeks.

If you love great music, and you’re looking for an excuse to enjoy a springtime visit to Cape May, the Cape May Music Festival is perfect for you.

Cape May Memorial Day Ceremony | May 27

The City of Cape May, in conjunction with the American Legion Post 193 and VFW Post 386, will conduct a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30, 2022, at 11 am to honor our fallen heroes. The Remembrance will take place at Soldiers and Sailors Park, located at Gurney Street and Columbia Avenue in Cape May.

Wildwood International Kite Festival | May 24-27

Let’s go fly a kite at the Wildwood International Kite Festival. Festivities include a Friday night social, illuminated night kite fly, Saturday silent and loud auctions, a large inflatable kite fly, team flying, and family games. On Monday, enjoy a free indoor kite exhibit. More information.

Room of the Month | Lord Melbourne

When you step through the door of the Lord Melbourne room, you’ll immediately understand that it is also a very special room. The king-sized bed, with its magnificent headboard, is brilliantly accented by the stunning tapestry on the wall behind it. The luxurious bathroom features a 2-head/2-person step-in shower, a beautiful granite vanity, and a wonderfully private water closet (separate room for the toilet). Perhaps the most impressive feature of Lord Melbourne, beyond the dramatic 12’ high ceilings, 49” flat panel television, in-room Keurig, and comfortable full-length sofa, is the private porch.  Step through the door onto the huge private porch and you’ll have the choice of luxuriating in either the porch swing or the rocking chairs.

Our Chocolate Lover’s Weekend is the perfect way to spend a couple of days with your favorite person in the world, enjoying Cape May and getting your fill of an amazing buffet of all things chocolate.
