| Gift Season is on the
Horizon |
|
|
It seems like I'm always trying to figure out what to
get members of my family and my friends for their
significant celebrations. Every month there is
something. Once in a while I need to come up with
something really special for a significant celebration.
If somebody you care about has something really
special coming up, maybe a significant birthday,
anniversary, or even a wedding, you might want to
consider sending them to The Queen Victoria. Queen
Victoria gift certificates are easy to buy, easy to
wrap, and they're always a big hit. The best part is
that they always fit. If you need to make somebody feel
very special, give us a call. |

Yes, it is coming back by popular demand. The Dickens

Well, maybe it isn't endless, but the well informed know
that Cape Mays beaches are wonderful WAY past Labor day. If
you're dreaming of Cape Mays beaches and just can't make it to
The Queen Victoria this summer, don't lament. We've still got
availability in late August and most of September (even
October is pleasant on the beach!). Many of you have
discovered that you need to start planning ahead again, as
advance bookings are way up this year. Don't wait too long, or
you may not get to stay at The Queen Victoria.

|
OK, I know this isn't fair, but wouldn't you really
rather be sitting on one of these chairs than in your
office chair? Seriously, you need a break; and I know
just the spot.
It really doesn't get much better than this, with the
possible exception of 4:00 tea at The Queen Victoria. In
fact, choosing between staying on the beach or coming
back for tea may be the toughest decision you need to
make during your next stay at The Queen
Victoria. |

| Featured "Room of the Month"
|
|
|
As promised, we're continuing our "Featured Room of
the Month" with our second entry. Admit it, you've
peaked into other rooms every chance you've gotten
during previous stays, so we're just making it easy for
you.
This is the Buckingham room on the third floor of the
Queen Victoria building. Buckingham is a cozy room
filled with period antiques including a beautiful marble
top dresser and magnificent embroidered high back
Victorian chairs. Buckingham’s large bright bathroom
features a bathtub with shower, and a wonderful vintage
marble sink. The room’s windows, which highlight the
architecture of the building, are like a telescope into
Cape May’s past. If you’re looking for views of Cape
May, both the beach and the unique historic architecture
of the Victorian part of town, you’ll love this
room! |

| Early Bird Discounts ... an
investment |
|
Many of you view vacations as an investment in your
health and well being. With our Earlybird discount
program, you can view it as a great financial investment
as well. If you love your stay with us this year (and we
certainly hope you will), and plan on staying with us
again next year around the same time, it makes sense to
take advantage of this program.
Reserve now (during your stay) for your next year's
vacation and we'll discount your room to this year's
rate, plus a 5% discount. I did a few calculations the
other day for several guests who were doing earlybirds
and it turned out that the discount they received by
reserving early represented a 16% annual return on their
deposit. Plus, you guarantee yourself the room you want!
Ever wonder why so many of the best rooms are always
reserved by the time you call? Now you know. If a trip
to The Queen Victoria is an annual event for you, you
really need to do this. |

| Relax ...
|
|
|
A stay at The Queen Victoria isn't just about the
beach. In fact, I think Cape May is more about relaxing
than anything else. And what better way than sitting
yourself in one of our porch swings with a good book.
Between our five porches, our roof deck, all of our
rocking chairs, and our two porch swings you are sure to
find just the right spot to completely relax. Happy hour
doesn't get much better than this! |

| Stay & Play ... Still
|
|
|
Last year we introduced our Stay & Play package,
which was so popular we decided to do it again. If you
love great theatre in a cozy setting (i.e. small
theatre), you'll love Cape May stage. If you've been to
a Cape May Stage production, you know that the acting is
incredible. If you haven't gone before, you need to do
it this year.
Reserve a room at The Queen Victoria for 4 nights
over a weekend, or 3 nights mid-week, and we'll be happy
to provide you with complimentary tickets to the Cape
May Stage. Just mention it to us when you call to book
your room. |

| Doug & Anna Marie's Restaurant
Pick Of The Month ... Moonfish Grill
|
|
|
Anna Marie and I tried Cape May's newest restaurant
about a week after it opened and we loved it. The
Moonfish grill just opened up where "Daniel's" used to
be on Broadway in West Cape May. It is a little bit of a
walk, but it is worth it. It boasts Cape May's only
sushi bar, and has a wonderful contemporary feeling
inside a historic building. Lots of dining rooms,
spacious seating, a nice menu, but best of all ... Great
Food. We've been sending lots of people to Moonfish
Grill and we've gotten great reports back from everyone.
On our visit I had the "Moonfish Kettle", which is
literally a copper kettle full of shrimp, scallops,
mussels, clams and lobster on a bed of home made
fetuccini. It was wonderful. Anna Marie had the
blackened Day Boat scallops with a citrus/mango salsa
sauce. I have to admit that I did my share of "dipping"
from her plate. The waiter was a Daniel's veteran and
the service was great, eventhough it was their first
week being open. If you are coming to Cape May any time
this year, plan on making it to the Moonfish Grill.
You'll be happy you did. |
