Tours in New Jersey

Published on October 14, 2016

Cape May knows how to do a theme well, especially around the holidays – you’ll see Anna Marie and I in our traditional Victorian wear soon enough. But, as we welcome the haunting holiday, things get a bit spooky and creepy around town as the Cape May MAC begins its Halloween Happenings events and tours!

Each year, the MAC offers a unique collection of tours and events to get you in the Halloween spirit, or perhaps to meet a spirit or two, and this year they’ve unveiled a few new events to complement their ghostly regulars.

New ghost tours in Cape May for 2016:

Rest in Peace Dinner – This limited seating dinner honors the 150th anniversary of Dr. Emlen Physick’s death with a four-course dinner with wine pairings from a local winery. Reservations required.

Tea & Confessions: Typhoid Mary, Dinner is Served – In the Carriage House Café & Tearoom, hear the harrowing tale of Mary Mallon, or “Typhoid Mary,” over afternoon tea

Tea & Confessions: The Notorious Bride of Frankenstein – No tricks, just tea and treats at this new event where the “Bride of Frankenstein” shares her story of being married to a monster over a civilized afternoon of tea.

Classic Cape May Halloween events:

Ghosts of Cape May Trolley Tour – I strongly recommend a trolley tour as a part of any visit to Cape May but this year’s ghostly version has been updated and includes new paranormal information from our resident ghost writer, Craig McManus.

Ghosts of the Lighthouse Trolley Tour – Similar to the tour listed above but with different views as you make your way toward the Cape May Lighthouse.

A Walk with the Ghost Writer – Walk alongside psychic medium Craig McManus as he shares his paranormal findings of Cape May. Perhaps the chill in the air you’ll feel won’t be natural.

Phantoms of the Physick Estate – You’ve got two options with this tour, either the “what happens after dark?” or “the mourning hours” where you can either tour the estate in the evening when the spirits tend to be more active or learn about the mourning rituals practiced in the 19th century.

I invite you to experience Halloween in haunted Cape May and know that Anna Marie and I are always happy to make recommendations for your time in the city and that of a spirited beverage variety.
